Four Ways to Monetize Social Media (even with a small following)

Monetization on social media is a hot topic...but what happens when you don't have the tools yet?

Until September of 2021 I didn't have any of the monetization tools on Instagram.

The frustration ran high until the magical day I hit 10K. Link stick came, but it just wasn't the same as the swipe up.

And I was still waiting for Instagram reels monetization, Instagram live monetization, and more.

I now have those tools but this morning I woke up thinking:  How could I have monetized on my own BEFORE Instagram let me? 

I came up with ways to work around the systems of social media that keep small accounts down...you ready?

💰 Set up a Buy Me a Coffee link. 

What it is: a link that allows people to fund you in increments of $5 or more.

I love Buy Me a Coffee because you can use it for one off events or for memberships.

You can also deliver digital products.

Buy Me a Coffee is a key way to work around the blocks with some social media monetization.

💰 Create a room on Clubhouse and use their monetization tool.

What it is: at the bottom of your Clubhouse profile people can send you money.

When you are hosting a room be sure to remind people of the tool to support you. It functions like BMAC but it is inside the Clubhouse app.

Don't have it yet? Pin your BMAC link in the link section when you are the moderator (I told you BMAC is brilliant!).

💰 If you are a creator on Instagram, monetize your Reels.

What it is: in your professional tools, check to see if you have the Reels bonus.

You then have around 30 days to get paid for the views on your Reels.

This is a great way to see residual income from your Reels.

While I got this after I hit 10K, other creators have received it earlier.

You would need to be actively creating Reels and be located in a country where Reels are available.

💰 Go live on Instagram and use badges.

What it is: in your professional tools, check to see if you have the Badge bonus.

When you go live your audience can support you by buying badges. 

This is similar to the support button on Clubhouse.

I would definitely think about what the purpose is of your live for this.

Yoga class? Makes sense. A training where you pitch your high ticket coaching offer? Maybe not! 

You don’t need the specific social media platform tools to be monetized.

 Think outside the box and how you can use tools like Buy Me a Coffee to help you create income.

Create great content that engages your audience and turn them into a community of raving fans.

Serve your audience often and don't be afraid to remind them of how they can support you.
